  • Raising the Bar

Many times the academic prowess of the Greek community is overshadowed by negative stereotypes of fraternity men and women in the public eye. While we can't hide past academic shortcomings, we do have the opportunity to ensure future progress. We must continue to work together to raise our academic standards as individuals chapters and as a Greek community.

    • Make new members aware of chapter and campus resources
    • Get motivated members (perhaps those that don't have to worry about holding a house position, but still have a high GPA) to help new members or struggling members

    Incentives

    • Being rewarded for meeting goals and punished for falling below
    • Advertise them
    • House points and parking spaces allotted by GPA
    • List of classes actives have taken and are taking
    • Test/project bank

    Struggling Members

    • Have a faculty advisor for just the struggling members
    • Have each individual member set goals with the academic chair
    • Show break down on the most cost of missing class
    • Mandatory study hours
    • Academic chair should have knowledge of struggling members classes, tests, dates for papers etc.
    • Encourage each member of the chapter to go to class and be good role models
    • Running file of teachers/class/tests
    • Awards for achievement
    • Resource binder for internships etc
    • Let struggling members know the consequences of not making grades
    • Social probation
