Dear Parents,
Your son was recently admitted to one of the finest institutions for higher education. Along with the decision to attend a distinguished four year University comes many unique opportunities not open to students who have chosen other paths; one of these unique opportunities is a choice presented for your son's consideration in Greek life. The InterFraternity Council (IFC) home page will introduce both you and your son to the benefits of fraternity membership. We ask each of you to browse through the information presented here and please give fraternity life at the University of Illinois serious consideration.
This website will provide you with the tools, research and information currently available to all incoming students regarding fraternity life at the University of Illinois.
Currently the University of Illinois has many recognized fraternities. Each of these fraternities provides an opportunity unique to that specific chapter; however, each has a number of things in common. Among the many things you will find listed on our Web page are the uniform benefits of membership within a fraternal organization, a brief introduction including contact information for each recognized chapter, and a number of supporting documents all asking you and your son to consider fraternity membership.
Each fraternal organization on this campus will provide you with an academic support network, sports and recreational outlet, philanthropic involvement, mentors and social opportunities unmatched elsewhere. Not listed among these is the most important advantage, a successful transition from where you are now into college. Fraternities at UIUC provide an instantaneous network of friends and peers whom can and will assist your son with anything and everything university related. Whether it is the most efficient route to class, the right professor for English 101, or simply the best spot to study outside, the fraternity experience will assist your son in closing the gap between the University of Illinois and a place to call home.
The fraternity experience will open doors and opportunities to your son that otherwise would not be available. The many fraternities and sororities encompass something we commonly refer to as the "Greek Community." This community offers its members life-long friendships and lays the groundwork for success during college and beyond. It is with great pleasure that this opportunity is now extended to your son. Please take the time read through our home page and familiarize yourself with the Greek Community at the University of Illinois. If at any time you have questions please do not hesitate to contact any InterFraternity Council board members.
Respectfully,
Tim Mueller
Interfraternity Council President
