Welcome to the Risk Management page for the Interfraternity Council at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign!

 

The University of Illinois boasts the largest Greek community in the country with 46 fraternities and more than 3,400 men. The 21^st century fraternity must serve as a beacon of leadership; it should work to overcome the negative image that has pervaded Greek Communities in general for decades.  It is our belief that a Fraternity’s image is highlighted by its management and awareness of risk. Risk Management lies at the heart of every fraternity, whether in the member’s everyday safety or any fraternity-hosted event, social or philanthropically based.

 

In recent years, the University of Illinois has made great strides in dealing with the issues relating to Risk Management.  Our chapters are implementing their Risk Management efforts more effectively and responsibly than ever before. As a result, our campus and Greek system has avoided many of the tragedies that have plagued college campuses across the country. In addition, our guidelines and practices are being used and implemented at various colleges to help strengthen their risk management.

Our primary mission is to inspire the highest level of awareness and compliance with the Risk Management policy as well as state and federal laws.  We are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy environment that supports the fostering of educational, leadership, and social opportunities. We seek to ensure that Greek organizations understand why their compliance is essential to their organization’s success.  We promote integrity and honesty among all Chapter Presidents and their respective members to do the right thing and hold others responsible in their actions.
